Königsbrunn / Germany, March 2018 – Ettlinger, a member of the worldwide Maag Group since 2018, will soon be making its debut as an exhibitor at Chinaplas, with the ERF350 – the newest model in the ERF series – as the centerpiece. This filter enables almost 30% higher throughput than its predecessor, the proven ERF250, when filtering heavily contaminated polymer feedstock. In addition to the ERF series, Ettlinger will also show its ECO melt filter series for PET processing, which since being launched in the market in 2015 has become first choice for numerous leading manufacturers of film and packaging tape.

This first appearance at Chinaplas 2018 will underline Ettlinger’s global presence as a synergy of its affiliation with the international Maag Group since January this year. Against this background, the company will significantly increase its commitment in China, among other things by setting up a new sales office in Hong Kong. Volker Neuber, Managing Director Ettlinger: “Apart from the base that will soon be opening in Hong Kong, run by Louis Hoi, we also have plans to establish more subsidiaries in Asia in the near future. All of these bases will maintain close links with our steadily growing number of local agencies, so that we can provide even faster and more extensive support to customers in the region. Maag’s existing infrastructure will greatly facilitate our work there, for instance by making supplies of spare parts much easier and more efficient.”

High performance filters for even heavily contaminated melts
All Ettlinger filters are self-cleaning with a rotating, perforated drum, through which there is a continuous flow of melt from the outside to the inside. A scraper removes the contaminants that are held back on the surface and feeds them to the discharge system. This enables the filter to be used fully automatically and without any disruptions over a period of weeks and months without having to replace the screen. The advantages: ultra-low melt losses and good mixing and homogenizing of the melts.

ERF filters are suitable for filtering all standard polyolefins and polystyrenes as well as numerous engineering plastics, for instance styrene copolymers, TPE and TPU. Foreign particles such as paper, aluminum, wood, elastomers or high-melting polymer composites can be reliably removed from materials containing up to 18% contaminants. ERF filters are available in three different sizes and achieve a maximum throughput of 6000 kg/h.

ECO filters, by contrast, are ideal for filtering very easy-flowing materials such as PET or PA containing up to 1.5% contaminants as well as for polyolefins and polystyrenes during the extrusion of films, sheets and other semifinished products. The ECO series is offered in two different sizes with screens from 80 µm to 1000 µm and a maximum throughput of 1800 kg/h or 3000 kg/h.

Ettlinger Kunststoffmaschinen GmbH was founded in 1983 and is today a global player. The German company has its headquarters in Königsbrunn, not far from Augsburg. Ettlinger has been part of the Maag Group since 2018. Maag is a global leading manufacturer of gear pumps, pelletizing and filtration systems and also pulverizers for sophisticated applications in the synthetic, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Ettlinger’s core competency is the development and manufacture of high performance melt filters and injection molding machines.

On the melt filtration side Ettlinger makes high performance melt filters for continuous filtration of heavily contaminated feedstock. ERF series filters are used in the most diverse areas right through to the recycling of post-consumer applications. By contrast, the filters in the ECO series are designed for compounding or film lines. They remove gels and agglomerates from virgin material and reduce the number of specks in the end product in order to obtain better film qualities and excellent durability. ECO filters are also suitable for PET or PA.

Ettlinger injection molding machines are optimized for the production of polymer moldings up to 100 kilograms in weight such as plastic pallets, fittings or manholes. An ingenious modular system allows affordable solutions and machine concepts to be offered for a wide range of applications.
